The first licenses to earn in U.S. Soccer's National License Pathway are the Grassroots Licenses. Each of the four Grassroots Licenses is available in two formats, online or in person. The courses are based on playing format – 4v4, 7v7, 9v9, and 11v11. U.S. Soccer requires that you watch a short video, the Introduction to Grassroots Coaching, before you register for any course. Once you’ve watched the video, the system will recognize that you are eligible to register for a Grassroots course.
North Texas Soccer offers Grassroots courses in a blended format in order to provide a preeminent educational experience while exercising caution during the COVID-19 pandemic. Each course includes a two-hour virtual meeting and a two-hour in-person field session. The license earned after successful completion of a course is a Grassroots In-Person License.

Coaching children is a very rewarding experience. And coaching your own child's team can be one of the most rewarding experiences of all! Coaches are pivotal to having children get the OSCA experience. If Regions don't have enough coaches, registration is scaled back and kids who want to play in OSCA are turned away.
Do you have little or no experience with soccer? No problem! OSCA will teach you, based on the age level you are coaching. Unique age-appropriate coach training is one of OSCA's specialties. If you plan to be at your child's soccer practices and games, you'll also have time to be your child's coach.
To become an OSCA coach, you must be certified in the age level you are coaching. Certification takes three easy steps. First, fill out a coach back ground check. Then complete the coach application. Once this is done an OSCA representative will contact you to co over the next steps.
Coaches are essential to the game. They teach children soccer skills and help develop a healthy, positive attitude, teamwork and good sportsmanship. Coaching is a rewarding experience because you have the opportunity to build a child's self-esteem, help them learn new skills and just have a lot of fun.
